Abstract I would like to congratulate Gosselink and Joshi on an insightful and well- written editorial exploring the link between HIRP and urge faecal incontinence and potential surgical treatment with LVR (1). In their conclusion they state "correcting anatomy, for example by LVR, might not be enough" and that "even an operation to remove the distal part of the insensitive and dysfunctional rectum" may be required. May I suggest that an alternative to LVR that would correct anatomy and remove this remaining dysfunctional rectum exists, namely STARR. |
