Abstract We congratulate the authors for their excellent initiative of the first European Consensus Statement on sacral nerve stimulation (SNS) for faecal incontinence (FI) and constipation (1). We would, however, like to contribute to the discussion as Spanish experts with more than 140 implanted patients and some publications in the field (2,3). The PNE phase is the basis for the decision for permanent stimulation, but there is a loss of efficacy in about 30% of implanted patients during the early follow-up (4). |
