Target Audience:

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterologists and other healthcare providers involved in the care of patients with Chronic Idiopathic Constipation (CIC).

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Differentiate symptoms of CIC from those of other common overlapping conditions, recognizing alarm symptoms that require further diagnostic investigation
  • Differentiate among medical therapies for CIC regarding pharmacology, efficacy, safety, and tolerability
  • Incorporate evidence-based treatments for CIC effectively into clinical practice

Amy Kassebaum-Ladewski, PA

Amy Kassebaum-Ladewski is a physician assistant in the Department of Digestive Health at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She specializes in functional bowel and neurogastromotility disorders, in addition to managing general GI patients. With a background as a registered dietitian, she prioritizes nutrition therapy with her GI patients. She currently serves as the vice president of GHAPP, with a mission to educate and advance the careers of GI APPs.

Kimberly Orleck, PA

Kimberly Orleck is a physician assistant with Atlanta Gastroenterol-ogy Associates, part of United Digestive. She treats all types of GI disorders but has a special interest in IBD and functional bowel dis-orders. In addition to her clinical practice, she is the lead APP for their 55 APPs. She is also on ACG's APP committee, serves as the education chair for GHAPP, and holds a part-time faculty position in Emory's PA program.
